How to Bet NHL Shots on Goal Props
Shots on goal are the most predictable skater prop in hockey because they come from ice time and role, not from luck around the net. A defenseman on the top power-play unit or a forward who plays 20 minutes a night gets shots whether or not they go in. Watch shot attempts too: a player who keeps firing pucks that get blocked or go wide is often one good bounce from clearing his line.
Lines move less than prices, so the same 2.5 can be +130 at one book and -110 at another. Always compare the Over and the Under across books before you bet. Our EV calculator shows what a given edge is worth per bet.

What is a shots on goal prop?
You bet whether a skater puts more or fewer shots on net than the posted line, usually 1.5, 2.5 or 3.5. A shot on goal must reach the goalie or go in; blocked shots and misses do not count.
How are these shots props ranked?
Each skater's shots per 60 minutes and his recent ice time give a projection for tonight, adjusted for how many shots the opponent allows to his position. That projection is blended with the market's price, and the sheet ranks the side where the gap is biggest.
What does "cleared" mean?
How many of his recent games went over the posted line. A player who has cleared 2.5 shots in 8 of his last 10 has a real history at that number, not just a hot night.
