What is a goalie saves prop?
You bet whether the starting goalie makes more or fewer saves than the posted line, usually somewhere between 22.5 and 30.5. If he is pulled early, most books settle on the saves he made.
How do you project saves?
Saves are shots faced minus goals allowed, so we start from how many shots the opponent generates and how many the goalie's team gives up, then apply his save percentage pulled toward the league rate. That projection is blended with the market's price.
Why does the opponent matter so much?
Some teams put 35 shots a night on net and some put 25. A goalie facing a high-volume offense has far more chances to clear his line, even if he lets in a few.
